One very important feature of our web design service is that we provide content recommendations and guidance based on our decades of business, design and writing experience. This alone can make a substantial difference in the quality of a site’s content.

WordPress
We use the WordPress development platform to create websites. WordPress is a search engine friendly, flexible and powerful development tool that is used extensively in modern websites. WordPress is much more than a set of web pages because it incorporates a Content Management System (i.e. it stores data in a database) so it can contain site content like posts, photos, videos, items for sale & more.
Using Design Templates
Although we can custom design a website for you, the fastest and least expensive way to a beautiful new site is to select an existing design template that best suits your needs. Templates can be used with just small modifications or as a jumping off point to a more customized layout.
Although templates have gotten a bad name due to many designers just picking one and filling it in, we add different customizations so each website has unique features and doesn’t look like “every other website”. Plus, we focus on templates that have a unique look to start.
If you find a template that is close to what you want but you have requirements that require modifying it, that’s no problem. Just let us know what you are looking for and we’ll do our best to make it work.

Pricing Examples
The following sections provide a reference of how our website design pricing works for some common website projects.
Website designs with predominately static data are generally less expensive than those with dynamic content like blogs (short for “weblogs”, i.e. articles), growing photography or video portfolios, or user generated content from social functions.
Note that sites that include dynamic content like weekly updates or blog posts require someone to write each post and submit it to the site. Also, if you allow readers to add comments to posts (which is usually recommended to create a sense of community), the comments will need to be monitored and should be individually approved to reduce spam and inappropriate content. We provide you with access to the WordPress Dashboard for editing your website’s content (if you are comfortable with it) or we can provide some services for this.

Later Modifications
One question that commonly comes up is about the cost for later updates to the website. We offer straightforward pricing with no surprises.
Design changes are $80 per hour with a minimum of 1/2 hour ($40).
Additional time is billed in 15 minute increments at $20 each. For example, a modification taking anywhere from 1/2 hour to 45 minutes would be $60.
If you need a photo switched or some text modified, we can usually connect to the site, upload the data and make the changes within the half hour minimum so the cost would be $40 (obviously this will depend on the number and complexity of required changes).
More involved modifications will be based on the project instead of an hourly basis.
Note that although other web design companies might quote lower hourly pricing, it’s all about how fast and efficiently they work since time and cost add up quickly. Our goal is to keep your site updated and you happy, so we will make the changes you request quickly and accurately.
Note that some of our maintenance plans include content changes at no additional cost.
